Hei Ling Chau Oxidation Ditch Plant

Introduction: WYE was responsible for executing a control and communication infrastructure upgrade at two locations: Nei Kwu Correctional Institution Sewage Treatment Plant and Hei Ling Chau Oxidation Ditch Plant.

WYE is capable of upgrading legacy system, providing comprehensive technical support, installation, and custom programming.

The work

• PLC Migration: Upgrading legacy Siemens S7-400 to the S7-1500 platform at both sites.

• 5G Connectivity: Deploying Robustel 5G industrial routers to connect the system controls of both treatment plants to the central SCADA system located at the Siu Ho Wan Sewage Treatment Works.

• Cabinet & Wiring Design: Designing new PLC control cabinets and engineered wiring to support a phased, low-risk transition.

• Phased Testing & Commissioning (T&C):

  • Mid-Stage: using signal splitters to run parallel testing on the new hardware without interrupting existing operations.

  • Final Stage: Decommissioning the old PLC wiring and executing a smooth cutover to the new 5G-controlled PLC system.
